Michigan Ballet Theatre is incorporated as a nonprofit organization; a student company of exceptionally talented dancers representing the advanced students of the Rochester School of Dance as well as dancers drawn from an open audition.

Our company’s purpose is to develop the technical and artistic skills required of dancers seeking a professional career and to present quality full length productions of classical ballets including The Nutcracker Ballet, Coppélia, and Sleeping Beauty.

MBT has presented two decades of Nutcrackers and Spring Galas. These have included performances with local symphonies and The Detroit Symphony Orchestra at professional venues including the Birmingham Theatre, Royal Oak Music Theatre and the Macomb Center for the Performing Arts.

Audition information

Michigan Ballet Theatre’s 2025 – 2026 Season

MBT auditions for the 2025-2026 season will be held at the Rochester School of Dance studios, 1800 S. Livernois, Rochester, MI on Saturday, August 23, 2025 beginning at 10:30 am. Registration begins 30 minutes prior to each audition. $25 Cash Audition fee is required for all auditions.

Main Company Auditions (MBT & MBT2) 10:30 AM – 12:30 PM

* MBT: Advanced level dancers with strong pointe technique | Ages 13-25

* MBT2: Intermediate/Advanced level dancers with pointe experience | Ages 12-18
Junior Company (I & II) Auditions

* Junior Company I Intermediate level dancers | Ages 11-14 | 1:00 PM – 2:30 PM

* Junior Company II Beginner/Intermediate level dancers | Ages 7-10 | 2:30 PM – 3:00 PM

Second auditions, for those who were unable to attend the August audition, will be held MBT/MBT2 – Thursday, September 11 6:30-9:00 pm

And on Sunday, Sept. 21 during the following times:

Ages 7 – 9 yr at the Adv/Beg Ballet – Ballet 1 level 1:00 pm – 1:30 pm

Ages 10+ yr at the Ballet 2 level and above – 1:30 pm – 2:30 pm

Performances will be held at Lake Orion High School Performing Arts Center, located at 495 E. Scripps Road, Lake Orion, MI
